The National Women’s Day Celebration held in Johannesburg, Harrowdene was certainly worth the wait and kept our women fully engaged from start to finish! Building on our global theme of: Listen, Learn, Lead the topics covered by our speakers brought to life the full meaning of the power of listening, learning and leading. Dealing with busyness and the flood of information in an increasingly digital world, so that it empowers and does not fluster and overwhelm us was one of the signature of the event.
Our external speakers, Wendy Ward and Yvonne Kgame shared practical tips, best practice and life lessons that truly resonated with our audience. In the topic Multi-Task or Multi-Choice: Business beyond Busyness; Wendy Ward taught us how to manage busyness in a manic society using personal and professional resilience. Introducing concepts like having a “to do list” but also drawing up a “not to do list” as well gave us food for thought and new skills and what she called an “antidote” to overwhelm. Women learned how to listen to their minds and bodies as important messengers of our overall well-being and tools that help us not just cope but thrive. To drive home the importance of listening women participated in an activity practicing the art and of listening without interrupting or pre-empting responses.

And moving the room with soul and laughter amidst deep pearls of wisdom and insight, Yvonne Kgame took us through a life journey that taught our women how to learn and lead with passion, drive and deep conviction. She shared the concept of asking ourselves: “who are you listening to, and what are they saying?” It are these voices and ideas she said, that cause us to act out deep seated beliefs that hold us back from living fully and realising our full potential in life and work. There were tears, there was laughter, but most of all there was learning!
We are so excited that our women have experienced such a powerful session that we believe if leveraged properly will help them soar as women and talent of Accenture.
